Late on Thursday, an explosion was reported outside the Army gate of the Jorhat military station in Assam, according to the Guwahati defence Public Relations Officer (PRO). Initial reports indicated that two individuals on motorcycles allegedly hurled a grenade at the army camp, although details are still being confirmed.
While no injuries were reported from this incident, some media outlets, citing sources, have suggested that the militant group ULFA-1 (United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent) claimed responsibility for the blast.
This recent explosion follows two prior grenade blasts in the region. On November 22, a grenade detonated outside the gates of an Army camp in Dirak, Tinsukia district, resulting in no reported casualties. Additionally, another explosion occurred on December 9 at the 149 CRPF in Joysagar, Sivasagar district, again with ULFA-I claiming responsibility for both incidents.
Authorities are actively investigating these events as part of ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and security of the area.
